Lots of Rambling

It's been so long since I've had a chance to really sit down and catch up on reading some off my favorite blogs. The boys are off at an early hockey practice and my daughter is still sleeping, so I have a little quiet time to myself and I won't get caught sitting down in front of the computer.

Baseball and softball have started and the boys are still in spring hockey with a lot of traveling for tournaments. Three Fridays in a row they had to miss school because of tournaments. (This last time I was a little afraid to call the school again to let them know they would be gone one more time this month. They're only in second and third grade is my justification to missing. Although I did hate taking my daughter out because she's in seventh. ) My daughter has had enough of hockey to last her a lifetime. She just keeps reminding me that the boys will be coming to every one of her softball games. And I keep reminding her that the boys have been going to the barn since they were in my tummy to watch her ride and have been to many horse shows that last all day. At least with hockey, you're in and out of the rink in a hour or so. Still not the same to her.

Change of subject. I am participating in a summer preppy swap. It sounded like so much fun and am so excited to take part, but now I'm getting a little nervous. The budget is twenty dollars and after looking at the goodies from the past spring swap that a lot of them participated in, I think I need at least a hundred to do it justice. There are some very talented ladies out there who make some wonderful things. I wish i just had an ounce of their talent. Although, I do love to wrap presents. I think it is so much more fun opening a gift that is beautifully wrapped. I keep hitting my favorite little shops in hope of a sale so keep your fingers crossed for me that I find some terrific things.

Oh and what about these gas prices. Usually I don't complain because it's just something you have to do to get around town. But filling up the landcruiser is $100.00 a tank now and when I'm hitting the gas station two to three times a week just to drive around town, it's a little frustrating. I keep thinking about all the wonderful things I could be buying with that money. Although it is making me more organized. I never use to think about running to Target two to three times a week. If I ran out of a few things, I would just hop in the truck and go. Now with my trips being less frequent, I am becoming better organized. I guess that's one good thing that has come out of this. Hubby's been hinting a little that when it's time to get a new truck, we'll probably be wanting to get something that gets better gas mileage if the gas prices keep going up like this. I love my landcrusier (it's my second one). It's the perfect size. Not to big like the suburbans and not to small. It's so easy to take everywhere and I always have enough room. Why am I worrying now about it, I still have it and we're not hitting the dealerships any time soon (I hope).

Well, enough with all the rambling. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.

I have a smaller SUV (Honda CR-V) and I understand your pain at the pump. It is just so frustrating.

I am your summer swap partner...PLEASE don't feel like you have to spend a small fortune on gifts for me....with grocery prices skyrocketing and gas prices going up...I couldn't afford to do that either! I will admit going over budget...but not by that much!!! I will try to mail your things soon...Mother's Day Out is over and I should have thought about that...I dread taking two little ones..I think I will have to bribe hubby to go for me!

Hi! Glad you found my blog. I see I am going to enjoy reading yours. You asked about the coach bag. Well, I am not a mother yet, but for some unknown reason all of Sweet Fireman's belongings end up in MY purse. His keys, his wallet, his cellphone, sunglasses. Well the lovely bag just was not large enough. Therefore, I am going to sell it and get something larger. I just could not justify with the price of gas, going and buying another one until this one is gone.

We have a Landcruiser, too. I used to drive it, but now DOTR does. It was $77 to fill it the other day, but I think he still had a quarter tank.

But I love that LC. I think when we finally park it, we'll get another one unless gas is $5 by then!
